fun stuff to pre-book

the activities are based on availability and sometimes a minimum number of participants is required.

central lake boat tour.

This is an excellent way to begin your trip at Casa Stacy.  An hour long guided tour by Luca Valsecchi of the Important Villas and Villages will give you an animated idea of the history of Lake Como as perceived by Luca.  It will also give you an opportunity to decide what places are important to visit during your stay — or — you just may decide that the tour was enough and that you want to spend your time on the terrace.   Outings are limited and may not be available during your stay.  25 euros per person.

cooking course with chef Moreno.

The Chef himself or his staff will pick you up in front of Casa Stacy at 10 am where you will go to his restaurant and learn to prepare great italian food while enjoying good wine and the fruits of your labors (the meal!).  You will return to Casa Stacy around 16.00 hours.  The cost is 50 euros each.

lunch or dinner at Silvio.

Enjoy a nice lunch or dinner over looking the lake — fish is their specialty as Christian goes out every morning to catch the fish of the day, but for those not to fond of fish, there are many other yummy options!   the cost of your dinner is on average  35 euros a person with antipasto, first or second course, dessert and abundant wine & water!  One of my favourite things to do is take a morning boat to Bellagio and take a walk through the gorgeous Villa Melzi gardens.  Then exit on the opposite end of the gardens for a short walk up a historic stair case to linger over a slow and abundant lunch. On a beautiful day I would wander back through the gardens finding a perfect shade tree to sit under and maybe siesta before heading into Bellagio for some shopping.  Silvio’s offers a gorgeous Magboat that can pick you up and return you to Varenna in style.   Please ask us for quotes and if other guests might be interested to share the cost.

cheese making tour & tasting.

Travel by train or car to  a beautiful agritourism in the Valtelina Valley.  Once arrived you will be able to see how the famous local cheeses are made and then sit down and enjoy a cheese tasting with a 3 glass flight of  local wine.  The cost is 17 euros a person  for cheese tasting, 17 euros per person for wine tasting + train tickets (about 8 euros round trip per person) and train station transfer 40 euros.  This location has an excellent health spa and you are able to purchase day entry at 35 euros a person to enjoy the saunas, turkish baths, various pools & jacuzzis and gym facilities.

wine tour in valtellina valley.

Departs by train mid-morning to the northern valley of Valtelina (about 50 minutes by train), where you will be greeted at the train station and taken to the cellar for a tour of the winery, followed by a flight of five of their great wines accompanied by local cured meats and cheese.  When finished enjoying your informative luncheon you will be escorted to the train station via the beautiful terraced vineyards of this gorgeous valley for your afternoon return.  The cost is 15 euros per person for the tour + train tickets (about 11 euros round trip per person)

manicure & pedicure.

Relax in the comfort of your room or on the roof terrace (weather permitting) enjoying the attention of Patrizia (who is also a trained reflexologist) — her basic offer is a curative pedicure.  It consists of an extensive cleaning of the your feet followed by the application of polish.  The cost is 55 euros.   You can add a Manicure for 20 euros and a 30 minute Reflexology Massage for 45 euros.

This can be booking in the privacy of your room.   Our therapists Valentino & Simona are trained massage therapist not only in Ayurveda but also in Swedish &  Thai Massage.  Valentino’s particular type of massage is done on a large mattress on the floor, and I assure you it is an unforgettable relaxing experience.  Simona uses the traditional raised bed and will leave you feeling more relaxed than ever before.  50 minutes is 50 euros and 80 minutes is 70 euros.

advanced dinner reservations.

Varenna is filled with wonderful restaurants, however most only have only 5-8 tables and require advance reservations.  To not miss out on a dining experience of your choice check out Trip Advisor for reviews noting that some of my favorites are:  La Contrada at Villa Cipressi, Borgovino, Varenna Mon Amour, La Vista, Quattro Pass and Cavatappi — located in Varenna.  And il Caminetto located in Gitanna (free transfer provided).
